Grey’s Anatomy Nominated by the Writers Guild Association

by Ingrid Diaz on December 14th, 2006

The Writers Guild Association posted its nominees for outstanding achievement in television, and Grey’s Anatomy made the list. Our beloved show is up for the Best Dramatic Series category.

Here are the rest of the nominees so we can gauge our competition. ;)

DRAMATIC SERIES

  • 24
  • Deadwood
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Lost
  • The Sopranos

What do you think? Think we stand a chance?

I see that CSI and House are notably absent from that list, though Lynn from House is Right was gracious enough to point me in the direction of this list (thanks, Lynn!)

So out of these, who do you think is our strongest competitor? 24? I must say, I’ve not seen Deadwood or 24, but I’ve heard they’re great shows. I am, however, a big fan of The Sopranos, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it took the award.

That said, Give Me My Remote pointed to Grey’s Anatomy as their favorite choice to win. So here’s to hoping!

Also, don’t forget about the People’s Choice Awards!

I’m a recent viewer of Grey’s Anatomy, having just completed the first season on DVD, and am now part way through the second season.

Till now, I didn’t really understand the fascination of the show, and thought it was just the last in a long line of medical shows.

However, having several episodes under my viewing belt now, I see what the lure of the show is. Great writing! The WGA nomination is well deserved.

    Definitely 24. I’ve seen it–it’s a great show.

Although I haven’t seen Deadwood, but there’s not so much hype about it.

But no question–24 is a major force. The Sopranos are aging… I don’t know if they can hack it this time around. :)

Hey Mary Jo, glad you’ve seen the light on Grey’s Anatomy :D

Erin: I think you have a good point about The Sopranos. I am just behind on the new shows like 24 and Deadwood so I can’t comment on my own opinions. Going by past experiences and what I’ve heard, though, I’m sure you’re right in that 24 is a strong competitor.

I’m hoping Grey’s Anatomy comes out a winner on this occasion though. It’s starting to feel like a case of “always a bridesmaid, but never a bride” with these awards nominations. :)

so, according to a recent interview of Chandra Wilson (black female doctor?), her role was originally written for a short blonde female who was going to be called a “Nazi?” I find that comment very disturbing.
